The Most Expensive Homes blog normally focuses only on displaying some of the most valuable residences, villas, neighborhoods and other aspects such as those, however, we have come across an extraordinary design event that seeks to elevate luxury design and craftsmanship, which we believe is important for everyone that intervenes in this sector. Entitled, the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit, this excelling design event will be taking place from 20-21 June, in Oporto, a city known for its natural beauty and monumental landmarks.
This gathering will unite some of the best creative minds, designers, makers and luxury brands in the industry to discuss what’s next in the luxury design world. This summit aims to start an open discussion on various topics, from what is design and craftsmanship to what happens when one combines the best design and the handcrafts, and countless other questions that will help create a better tomorrow.
The opening event will be at Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar, which was designed by Pritzker Winner, Architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. Gondomar is known for being devoted to craftsmanship, especially in the production of filigree, among other ancient art forms and techniques.
This particular event will present an outstanding line-up of renowned speakers, who tiresomely work every day to develop this cause, including the Michaelangelo Foundation, Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, Luís Onofre, Vista Alegre, Topázio and Boca do Lobo, just to name a few.
This event is organized in association with the Thinkers & Makers Foundation, whose mission is to celebrate and honor craftsmanship and every single person who creates soulful pieces with their own hands. This event will act as “A unique new Summit dedicated to exploring the increasingly crucial nexus between luxury and craftsmanship as essential components to inject a new verve into the design world.” Below, you can find some of the debates and activities taking place as well as the topics that will be discussed at the summit.
