Ok, this may not be new but it’s certainly one of the most spectacular celebrity homes of all time! This week we give you a guided tour through David Bowie and Iman’s balinese-inspired villa in the Mustique.
The luxury estate was featured in Architectural Digest back in 1992, a time when the balinese style wasn’t in at all. The Balinese inspired villa, both in architecture and spirituality, was conceived by architect Arne Hasselqvist. The interiors were created by Robert J. Litwiller & Linda Garland, and the fantastic gardens designed by landscape designer Michael White. The harmony felt in every single detail inside is so soothing!
Different moods were created throughout the luxury estate. Every corner is a surprise, like, for exemple, the formal European living room. Interior designer Linda Garland created the 19 th-century-style furnishings found in this room. We can also see a set of circa 1825 engravings of the pagodas of Pagan and Rangoon and a circa 1850 crystal oil chandelier, found in London.
The gardens are phenomenal! The Indonesian influences, complete with green water, waterlilies, tropical grass and scattered stones, provide a truly relaxing experience.
In the master bedroom, a collection of 19 th-century Egyptian Revival furnitures is a beautiful surprise indeed. The floors are covered with antique lacquered rattan matting.
