CELEBRITY HOMES: For Estée Lauder scion Aerin Lauder, her family’s seaside getaway is a place full of rich memories, idyllic times, and endless inspiration. According to the article originally published by Architectural Digest, Estée Lauder has oft been heralded as a visionary in the world of beauty, but as one stands on the back terrace of the Palm Beach home she passed down to her son Ronald and his family. Today, The Most Expensive Homes invites you to take a tour inside Aerin Lauder’s family home in Palm Beach. Check it out!
The house is one of only two in this pristine part of Florida that sit directly on the water; the other is Estée’s onetime Palm Beach residence, which now belongs to her elder son, Leonard.
Designed by society architect Marion Sims Wyeth in 1924 and acquired by Estée six decades later, the Mediterranean Revival house lay dormant until Jo Carole and Ronald turned it into a family home in the 1990s.
Sutherland chaise longues beckon poolside. Albertus Swanepoel hat; Aerin sandals; Aerin for williams Sonoma cachepot.
At Jo Carole and Ronald Lauder’s house in Palm Beach, lacy 1940s-style furniture, reproductions of matriarch Estée’s originals, outfits a terrace.
In the loggia, 1950s Georges Jouve vases stand on Atelier Viollet tables; Jerusalem stone floor.
Estée’s room is Aerin’s homage to her grandmother, using much of the latter’s furniture in its original quilted fortuny fabric.
Jean Royère side chairs flank a Jean Prouvé table in the dining area; Tadao Ando blue glass vases, 1920s Katsu Hamanaka cocktail table, pillows made of a Jack Lenor Larsen gold silk. At far left, Aerin floor lamp. Donald Kaufman custom-made wall paint throughout.
Today the white-pillared mansion serves as a splendidly relaxing getaway for three generations of Lauders: Ronald and his wife, Jo Carole; their daughters, Aerin and Jane; and the girls’ own respective families.
Aerin Lauder may have inherited one of the most famous surnames in the beauty industry, but when it comes to business, she would like to be a household name in her own right. Lauder, 46, is a mother, businesswoman and global entrepreneur. As the style and image director of the now 70-year-old company Estée Lauder, Lauder has worked in a variety of roles for more than two decades, carrying on the legacy of her late grandmother, Estée Lauder herself.
