The California house, which was designed in association with Ashley Drost and Marie Trohman of Proem Studio, expertly reflects Emma’s cool, laid-back attitude and interesting sensibility. Since the social media star works from home, it was vital to create a space that felt personal and comfortable at the same time.
The house is filled with references from different eras of design and the goal was not to stick to one aesthetic but rather to take a lighthearted and open-minded approach when creating these spaces. In the dining room, we can see how different styles merge. We are particularly in love with the chandelier that, alongside the rug, brings colour to the room.
There was plenty of inspiration that came from the original house. Built in 1955 and covered in cedar shake shingles, the building reads like a strange cross between Topanga Canyon Birkenstock bohemian and Northern California hippy contemporary, with a touch of Adirondack charm. The kitchen, designed in tones of green, also includes a lot of natural light as well as stylish marble accents.

A variety of artisanal, organic materials and surface treatments, including expanses of raw copper, custom free-form plaster fireplace surrounds, walls and ceilings lined in cork, slabs of honey onyx, and a wall covering of braided bacbac (banana-tree bark) with a subtle metallic shimmer, support the interiors’ earthy-with-a-twist aesthetic.

For Emma, inspiration can be found anywhere, not only when it comes to fashion, but also to home decor. She took to Pinterest to create mood boards that would reflect her ideas and create beautiful and personalized spaces like this bedroom.
The bathrooms include lots of natural details. Take this one for example, where marble is king and feminine tones take the center stage.
The outdoor lounge area communes with nature in harmony, integrating it into the decor. This union creates a sense of peace and calm perfect for a space like this, where one is supposed to enjoy a good time. The concrete mushrooms are a nice detail that was added and that reflect Emma’s funny personality.
Another part that integrates the outdoor area is this dining space, perfect for an al fresco meal. The design for the space is simple, yet it matches the “no aesthetic” aesthetic of the interiors.
