Mary Kate Olsen’s two townhouses hit the market for $16-million – The two former east village townhouses from actress and trendsetter Mary Kate Olsen hit the market at $16-million. The two properties share a private garden that is believed to be one of the largest in Manhattan.
The Anglo Italianate–style townhouse dates back to 1854 and contains original fireplaces and mantelpieces, as well as details like the skylights and staircases.
Mary Kate’s husband Oliver Sarkozy, brother of former French president Nicolas, bought the one on 123 E. 10th St. for $6.5 million in 2012. The house is now listed in $8.3 million. Around the fireplaces and on some walls there are exposed brick walls throughout.
It is composed of three bedrooms, including a master suite that occupies a full floor, as well as an open dining and sitting area and a double parlour with ornamental mouldings.
The five-bedroom townhouse next door is on 125 E. 10th St. is now on the market for $7.7 million.
Both homes are every inch as chic as expected and have a variety of details in their composition reflective of its 19th-century origins.
The townhouses are also available for joint purchase, at $15.99 million.
