Chanel: Inside The New Beverly Hills Flagship Store – Chanel has long been associated with sophistication, elegance, and timeless style. From its signature quilted bags to the little black dress, the House of Chanel has been a staple in the fashion world for almost a century. Chanel’s influence, however, extends beyond the realm of fashion. In reality, according to its founder, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, the brand was always a vital element of Hollywood‘s beauty and sparkle for numerous decades. Chanel’s presence in Hollywood has been strong since the 1930s, from producing costumes for famous films to clothing Hollywood icons for red-carpet events. This heritage was further established with the opening of the largest Chanel flagship shop in the United States, designed by longtime Chanel collaborator Peter Marino. The new Chanel flagship store in Beverly Hills is an impressive four-story, 30,000-square-foot space, making it the largest Chanel store in the United States. The store was designed by longtime Chanel collaborator Peter Marino, and it embodies Coco Chanel’s signature “less is more” approach to dressing.
The building’s exterior is a stack of all-white volumes cleaved by a central glazed atrium, while the interior is awash with references to the Parisian house, including a pared-back palette of black, white, and gray and a gigantic strand of pearls by artist Jean-Michel Othoniel that cascades from the atrium’s ceiling.

The opening of the Beverly Hills store coincides with Chanel’s spring/summer ready-to-wear collection, which was inspired by the French New Wave film Last Year at Marienbad, for which Coco Chanel designed the costumes. It’s a fitting tribute to the house’s long-standing connection to Hollywood and the silver screen.
