Frieze New York aims to be a genuinely international exhibition, presenting the dynamic and diverse terrain of contemporary art, with over 60 galleries from 27 countries participating.
Frieze New York is famous for curating an amazing lineup of galleries and artists, challenging and delighting tourists with its carefully chosen programmes. The fair prides itself in balancing established and developing galleries, presenting a view of the art world’s ecology, and encouraging fresh discoveries. Visitors can expect to see some of the most recognised painters working today, as well as rising artists whose reputations are on the rise.
Frieze’s Director of Americas, Christine Messineo, emphasised her enthusiasm for this year’s event, saying, this year’s Frieze New York brings together extraordinary galleries and artists to inform, challenge, and delight. The 2023 edition of Frieze New York has a significant representation of New York-based exhibitors, showcasing the finest of the city’s arts landscape. 303 Gallery, Alexander Grey Associates, Andrew Kreps Gallery, David Zwirner, Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Karma, Matthew Marks Gallery, Michael Werner, Ortuzar Projects, Pace Gallery, and Tanya Bonakdar Gallery are among the participating galleries. With their established presence in the city, these galleries play an important role in defining and supporting the local art scene.

Carlos/Ishikawa, Dastan Gallery, David Kordansky, Esther Schipper, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Gallery Hyundai, Goodman Gallery, Jenkins Johnson Gallery, kurimanzutto, Massimo De Carlo, Mendes Wood, mor charpentier, Perrotin, Société, Thaddeus Ropac, The Modern Institute, White Cube, and Xavier Hufken join the New York-based exhibitors. Their involvement contributes to Frieze New York’s global dimension by encouraging cross-cultural debate and artistic exchange.
A special section of the fair, known as Focus, is dedicated to galleries under 12 years old, showcasing solo presentations. Gallerists Olivia Barrett (Château Shatto, Los Angeles) and Sophie Mö̈rner (Company Gallery, New York) have advised on the selection of the participating galleries. This year, Focus will feature over ten galleries, including Barro, Cooper Cole, Capsule Shanghai, and Daniel Faria Gallery.
