From 18 to 23 April, the 61st Salone del Mobile Milano will take place at Fiera Milano Rho. A significant international event that will hasten the fair’s crucial metamorphosis by introducing innovations to tried-and-true procedures Three significant changes will happen in Salone Del Mobile 2023: it will be set up on one exhibition level, with the exhibitors from the upper pavilions (8–12, 16–20) moving to the lower ones to make the visit easier, better, and more enjoyable.
The cultural component, typically developed in the traditional event in the city, will also be best expressed in the spaces of the biennial Euroluce through interdisciplinary and experiential contents, ranging from architecture to art with exhibitions, talks, workshops, and site-specific installations. The new layout of Euroluce, by being stand-centric, will bring people and the enjoyment of the event to the centre, thanks to a more practical smart ring-shaped layout.
In total, the event will gather 1962 exhibitors, more than 550 young talents under 35 and 27 design schools. Salone Del Mobile 2023‘s edition will create different worlds, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace3.0, S.Project, Euroluce, and SaloneSatellite and offer the usual conferences, thematic exhibitions, bookshops, and more, allowing visitors to have an exciting, subjective, and memorable experience while establishing long-term connections.

The biennial Euroluce, (pavilions 9–11 and 13–15), which is currently at its 31st appointment, will return in April. The exhibition plan will be updated by the studio Lombardini22, and at the same time, visibility of the exhibitors will be increased, guaranteeing that each has an adequate space. The biennial will be organised around the idea of “The City of Lights,” which will serve as its unifying theme.
The concept of “The City of Lights” will also serve as the primary theme for the cultural programme, which will be displayed in the Euroluce spaces this year. This includes the interdisciplinary content curated by Beppe Finessi as well as the expansive piazza and arena of the biennial, Aurore, which was designed by Formafantasma and will serve as a space for a variety of talks as well as immersive and reflective experiences. Also, the studio created 12 Constellations, architectural interludes that will house exhibitions inside the show that Finessi will curate.
The event will be complemented by the talks and debates held by the most prominent figures in the current design scene as part of the new programme of Talks, which was selected by Annalisa Rosso and has a particular focus on lighting, technology, and sustainability. International journalists will be able to ask Shigeru Ban, Kjetil Traedal Thorsen, Marius Myking, Nao Tamura, and Andrea D’Antrassi of MAD on how advances in lighting technology can improve our quality of life in the future.

The design, art, and illustration-focused library will be another hub of culture. It will also house literature works that explore the idea of light in various forms. Corraini Editori will curate the area for a project by the Formafantasma studio. A bistro and a fine dining restaurant, both designed by Piero Lissoni to complement the biennale’s space idea, will also be located in the Euroluce pavilions.
More than 550 protagonists will take part in the 24th SaloneSatellite, which will be located inside the Euroluce pavilions (13-15). The theme for 2023 will be “Design Schools – Universities /BUILDING THE (IM)POSSIBLE. Process, Progress, Practice”. SaloneStellite will also host its early award event, with the 12th edition including the much-awaited guest Gaetano Pesce who will talk about his long career and contribution to the design world.
