It’s on Altamount Road – one of the most expensive streets of the world – in the center of the city of Mumbai, India, that sits a 27 story house called Antilia, estate of the Ambani’s, one of the wealthiest families in India. Most Expensive Homes talks you through all the impressive details that Antilia has to offer.
Estimated on 1 billion, this Antilia skyscraper, located right in the center of India’s capital, is the most surprising architectural project that’s ever existed. At Antilia, you’ll find a multi-story garage for 168 cars, three amazing helipads on the roof and 9 elevators that are all sitting in the lobby.
This astonishing 400,000 square foot building, also has a temple for the family to pray, a two-story recreational center, a large spa with a massive pool and jacuzzi, and obviously the most amazing terrace gardens, embellished with ostentatious pieces of art, decorated accordingly.
This enormous building couldn’t miss on the opportunity to have a classic and exquisite ballroom, and yet a massive theater that can fit 50 people. The inspiration for the design of Antilia insisted on the concept of the sun and the lotus. It was used, throughout the 27 story building, materials that evoked that concept, such as crystal, marble and mother-of-pearl.
Antilia was a project by American architects Perkins and Will, in collaboration with the Australian construction company, Leighton Holdings. Although the building comes with 27 floors, those come with extra-high ceilings, which means that every floor is equivalent to a two-story floor.
The top six floors of Antilia’s building have been designated as the private and residential area for the Ambani family. This massive home also comes with a host of guest suites, a salon and an ice-cream parlor.
