Today, The Most Expensive Homes blog will feature one of the most stunning luxury homes we’ve seen in a while. This stunning Glebe Place Residence located in the heart of London was recently renovated by Rafael De Cárdenas, who owns his own multi-disciplinary practice, Rafael De Cárdenas Ltd. / Architecture at Large. The designer is known for creations that show “keen historical interest and an attention to the complex movements of culture in the moment,” and this astounding estate is no exception.
Cárdenas created a powerful and stunning environment by combining novel styles while blending them with traditional Portuguese pieces and modern design. As a matter of fact, one of the rooms features the traditional Portuguese Manueline style, that is further enhanced by the presence of the amazing D. Manuel Cabinet from Boca do Lobo’s Limited Edition Collection that rests beautifully in the dining room.
A restrained palette of Portland limestone, hardwood, and natural materials is punctuated by vibrant accents of turquoise, fuchsia, brass, and deep purple furnishings from modern European and American designers.
The Modern dining room highlights an enormous marble dining table in cream tones and numerous upholstered chairs. The blossom rose wallpaper gives personality to the walls while throughout the room hues such as beige, old grey and dark wood give an extra classic touch to the space.
Right beside the entrance door, D. Manuel was chosen strategically to expand the space and cut the contemporary design of the rest of the pieces in the design project. The cabinet surface has a copper leaf finish, with a sophisticated black lacquer gradient applied on the outside. Its legs are made from solid mahogany and are crafted to a traditional and handmade form, finished in high gloss black lacquer.
The renowned New York-based interior designer recreated several different rooms, each one with its own classic touch. The astonishing six-bedroom design project was renovated to evoke timeless luxury, balancing contemporary classics with the home’s historic character.
