McLaughlin puts this riverfront city at number one thanks to its affordable housing and seriously impressive job growth. Grand Rapids is also home to the beloved Fulton Street Farmers Market (it’s been around since 1922!), a pedestrian-friendly downtown area and a booming art culture.
This charming Southern town may rank higher than Grand Rapids when it comes to job growth (Charleston came in at number six), but its higher cost of living and fewer vacancies kept it from snagging the top spot.
Austin is undoubtedly one of the country’s biggest music destinations, so it’s no surprise millennials love it. The city’s job market is also a huge draw, especially for those looking to get into the tech game, as employers including Apple, Dell, IBM, and Samsung all have outposts there.
According to McLaughlin, Baton Rouge is attracting more people thanks to its impressive culinary and arts scene, and its charming Garden District.
With two cities in the top 5, Texas just may be the way to go, and San Antonio has plenty to offer. The famous Riverwalk is a huge draw, as is the city’s bike-friendly nature, and affordable homes. It even saw the biggest spike of millennial residents in the entire United States from 2010 to 2013. So if you’re looking for youth-approved culture, look no further.
