Located in Laglio, a village on the western shore of Lake Como, Villa Oleandra is an 18th-century property that is actually owned by famous actor, George Clooney. During the summertime, the actor and his wife, London-based lawyer, Amal Clooney visit the astounding villa. Before the thespian bought the home in 2002, it used to belong to a handful of Italian families and also to the American Heinz family. The actor came across this astonishing villa around 16 years ago when he and a friend were motorbiking around Italy, and Clooney immediately fell in love with it.

The building is surrounded by a large botanical garden and is said to boast 25 rooms, an outdoor theatre, a pool and a garage for the actor’s motorbikes. This luxurious estate also has a tennis court, a full gym, landscaped gardens, ornately carved ceilings, massive bathrooms, a separate “pizza room”, and an amazing constructed wall to keep the lake from pouring directly into the house.
George Clooney said once that this villa “changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way…I realized how beautiful life was in Italy and how it really helped calm me and not feel so pressured.” Lastly, the actor actually owns a total of four villas in the area of Lake Come and has even become an honorary citizen of the small lakeside town and sits on the committee for the defence of the integrity of the banks of the lake.
